It was the only facility in the Down District Council Area to receive this accolade. The award was presented by Mr Norman Hutchinson (Past President of Royal Society of Ulster Architects).

Down District Council Chairman Councillor Billy Walker said: “I was delighted and very privileged to be invited to the William Keown awards.  I was delighted to present the award to Ardarragh Residential Centre as they are a charity that have shown great effort and awareness by making improvements to their premises. We have much to learn from such organisations and many buildings in our area are still lagging behind in being disability friendly.

“I have known William for quite a number of years and I am hugely impressed at his enormous committment to disabilty issues and disability access.

“I would like to pay tribute to him for his diligence over the years to this very worthy cause. His passion and dedication  is very much appreciated.”
