Alliance Party Newcastle area Councillor Patrick Clarke has contacted DRD Roads Service requesting that a stretch of footpath leading from Railway Street to Merrion Avenue housing development in Newcastle be adopted and put on their cleaning schedule following complaints from residents in Merrion Avenue. dn_screen

Councillor Patrick Clarke said: “I have received a number of complaints from residents living in Merrion Avenue about the very poor state of cleanliness of the footpath which leads directly onto Railway Street in Newcastle.”

“Parts of the tarmac on the footpath needs repairing plus the entire footpath needs weeded, cleared and the footpath cleaned as well as the water gullies.”

“I have reported the footpath and asked Roads Service to consider adopting the footpath so it can be added to their cleaning schedule as it is clear that it has not been maintained or cleaned for a considerable period of time. This is now being considered by Roads Service.”
