All Roads Lead To Castlewellan For Cancer Fund For Children Bog Run

Cancer Fund for Children is giving the Northern Irish public another chance to ‘get boggin’ for Cancer.

And on Sunday 9th October 2016  once again Castlewellan Forest Park will be filled with charity runners ready to get covered in mud for a great cause as Cancer Fund for Children’s Bog Run returns with a 5Km route over natural, muddy obstacles.

The Bog Run is back and promises to be even boggier than ever. Stephen Bartlett, and Amanda Steele Cancer Fund for Children's Corporate Fundraiser, Christopher Mikhael and Natasha Walsh are in the thick of it as they gear up for the Bog Run which takes place on Sunday 9th October in aid of Cancer Fund for Children.

Stephen Bartlett, and Amanda Steele Cancer Fund for Children’s Corporate Fundraiser, Christopher Mikhael and Natasha Walsh are in the thick of it as they gear up for the Bog Run which takes place on Sunday 9th October in aid of Cancer Fund for Children.

The Bog Run is a light-hearted event, which requires no prior experience and Cancer Fund for Children is looking for enthusiastic and fun loving people to join them in their muddy fundraiser.

Amanda Steele, Cancer Fund for Children’s Events Fundraiser, said: “I’ve had a taster for the Bog Run and I can tell you I was covered in mud from head to toe! Its good old messy fun and we are encouraging the public to get stuck into something different again this year. We are hoping to encourage over 400 people to take on the various natural obstacles around this 5km course

“Whilst the Bog Run will be quite physically challenging participants don’t have to be gym bunnies or marathon runners as this event is more dirty than dangerous. Whether you’re a die-hard triathlon runner or you’ve never ran a mile in your life I would urge everyone to give it a go.”

Every week in Northern Ireland, three young people are diagnosed with cancer. Cancer Fund for Children work with around 350 families every year and they money raised from this year’s event will help these families cope with the devastating impact of a childhood cancer diagnosis.

The Bog Run 2016 will taking place on Sunday 9th October 2016 at Castlewellan Forest Park, just a stone’s throw away from Cancer Fund for Children’s therapeutic short break Daisy Lodge facility in Newcastle, Co. Down.

Registration for the event is £30 with a minimum sponsorship of £100. Anyone over the age of 16 can take part, and those under 18 will need written permission from a parent or guardian.
