Downpatrick II's   7  Dunmurray YM II's   2

FOLLOWING their cup exit last week Downpatrick II's got back to business with an excellent display against Dunmurray. At first it seemed that it was not going to be Downpatrick's day when Dunmurray took the lead after 5 minutes.

Downpatrick responded almost immediately and the Dunmurray lead was short lived when Shane Matherson rounded the Dunmurray keeper and slotted home after being played in by elusive 19-year old Sean McMahon.

Action in the match between Downpatrick II's and Dunmurray.

Downpatrick then pushed on from this. Peter Kelly and Conor Curran created wave after wave of attack for the home side. On the 20th minute mark prolific goalscorer Eoin Boyle nodded home a Terence Bell cross to give the Downpatrick side the lead.

The Downpatrick attack did not relent and it came as no surprise some 10 minutes later when Shane Matherson lobbed the Dunmurray goalkeeper to get his second of the day and Downpatrick's third with the score at half-time being 3-1.

In the second hal, Downpatrick did not rest on their laurels and Boyle made it 4-1 when he coolly slotted home form the edge of the box. Five minutes later Conor Curran got rewarded for all his hard work when he
drilled home a 20 yard free kick into the top corner of the Dunmurray net to make it 5-1.

A lapse of concentration in the Downpatrick defence then gave Dunmurray a lifeline when their centre half was left with acres of space to head home an unchallenged header. Dunmurray then let their discipline and had a player sent off for a suspected head butt.

This made life a lot easier for Dpk and striker Ron Moore made it 6 for Downpatrick when he was played through by Peter Kelly. Curran then doubled his tally for the day, with the score finishing 7-2.
