THE young cast of the Patrician Youth Centre have got off to another great year with a magnificent performance of Jack and the Beanstalk.
But they performed not one but three on the same day. On the morning and afternoon, pupils from local schools filled the Downshire Great Hall in Downpatrick and they all got into the atmosphere at the drop of a hat. In the evening another one began at 8pm. And on Sunday 15 January there will be a matinee peformance at 3pm.

Again there was quite a large cast and the months of hard work at the Patrician has paid off. Yvonne Maguire, Senior Youth Worker, said: "I would very much like to thank the thank theentire production team for their commitment and dedication to the Youth Centre of our Parish.
"And a sincere thanks must go to parents and families who year after year support our cast with full houses at the performances. The audiences are superb and really appreciate all the hard work the Centre members have made. A special thank you must also go to the sponsors of this pantomime. Without them it would be difficult top maintain such high standards which we all have come to expect from the Centre performances."
Jack and the Beanstalk is one of the most popular of the seasonal pantomimes and since the Patrician has started performing them, this is probably the fourth time they have completed this pantomime. The Centre members learn a great deal in developing their stage, social and personal skills and maybe even one day we might see a budding star tredding the boards of the Lyric Theatre or Grand Opera House or even the West End. You never know!
