DOWN Arts Centre continues a month of great music with Celtic Airs & Graces, featuring flautist Karin Leitner and harper Cormac de Barra, at 8pm on Friday 17 February.
Born in Vienna and a graduate of the Vienna Academy of Music and Arts, flautist Karin Leitner is a truly international musician. Karin has played recitals worldwide and is currently Artist & Composer in Residence in Tehran, Iran.

Artistic Director of the Vienna Film Orchestra, Karin is an accomplished composer in her own right. She plays a variety of instruments including wooden flute, piccolo, tin whistle, uillean pipes and Native American flute. In 2010, Karin played "Titanic" at the Vienna Film Ball for Kevin Spacey, Maximilian Schell and Christoph Waltz.
Harper and TG4 television presenter, Cormac De Barra comes from a long line of traditional Irish musicians and singers. Cormac has performed with groups and musicians including fiddle player Máire Breatnach, Sligo-based band Dervish, Brian Kennedy and Clannad.

He has pushed the boundaries of Irish harp beyond the traditional and the classical through his collaborations with artists such as actor and punk icon Hazel O'Connor and composer and singer Julie Feeney. Cormac is currently touring and recording with Moya Brennan, the voice of Clannad, and has been performing and collaborating with Hazel O'Connor since 1998.
Celtic Airs and Graces will feature well-known and much-loved Irish airs, haunting Celtic melodies, lively jigs and reels, as well as classical gems and some virtuoso pieces.
Date for the Diary – In association with Rath Celtair Folk Music Club, Down Arts Centre is pleased to announce a late addition to this month’s live music programme. Máirtín O’Connor, Cathal Hayden and Séamie O’Dowd will play live in concert at Down Arts Centre at 8pm on Saturday 18 February.
