ON Tuesday 6 December the Killyleagh Christmas lights were switched on and the event once again attracted a good crowd despite the heavy rain the came on.

Killyleagh Xmas Lights

Carol singers created an atmosphere of Christmas cheer while Mr Whizzie entertained the crowds with his trike. In the Killyeagh Castle grounds Mervyn and Liz Ward provided rides for the children in their horse drawn carriage while Santa Claus met the excited children in the gatehouse of the castle.

In the Dufferin Arms an art and crafts fayre was held and artists and stalls provided a wide range of high quality products and items. Wendie Cromie was there with a wide range of Christmas paintings and sketches. Mike Hartwell also was showing his terrific selection of ariel photographs of Strangford Lough.

Last year the crowds faced a very cold night with ice on the roads and this year again the weather has not ben kind, but it did not deter the fun on the night. The event was organised by Killyeagh Development Assocation and supported by other businesses and organisations in the area.
