AN 18-year-old man has been arrested by police and is helping with them with enquiries into two burglaries that occurred yesterday evening, (Thursday 13th January), on the Drumanaghan Road in Downpatrick and the Dromara Road in Dundrum.

The man was arrested in the Downpatrick area last night. A small white coloured car was seen in the area of both burglaries at the time.

Police investigating the burglaries are appealing for information. A police spokesman said, “Shortly before 8.30pm last night, a black and white handbag and other items were found lying in the Donard Walk area of Dromara. The items are understood to be some of the items stolen in the burglaries and it is understood that two males may have witnessed the items being dumped from a small white car a few minutes earlier. These two males also happened to speak with a female passer by, but unfortunately did not come forward to police.

“Detectives are keen to speak with these two men as they may provide valuable information that could assist their investigation into the burglaries. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at Downpatrick on 0845 600 8000. Alternatively, information may be passed anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.”
